Welfare Courses

Athletics Northern Ireland run a variety of general courses in conjunction with Sport Northern Ireland and other organisations.

Step 1. Safeguarding Children & Young People in Sport (£15.00). Minimum age 16

This course is recommended for all club members, staff and volunteers in sport over the age of 16.  It is a great introduction to welfare issues.

Step 2. Designated Safeguarding Childrens Officer Workshop (£15.00). Minimum age 18

This course follows on from the basic issues covered in Safeguarding Children & Young People in Sport, and is the training course strongly recommended for all clubs' Welfare Officers (it is mandatory to have a welfare officer if your club has u-18 or vulnerable adult sections, please see our welfare section for more information).

Courses are organised by the council and focus on the required qualifications for coaches as part of the Belfast Clubmark programme. Please note that consideration will be given to clubs which are not currently registered with the Belfast Clubmark programme
