Safeguarding Children & Young People in Sport Workshop Athletics NI often run a Free Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Workshop at the Mary Peters Track. This course is an introduction to safeguarding for all club personnel (Coaches, Officials, Committee Members, Parents & Designated Safeguarding/Welfare Officers) who wish to make their club a safe environment for Children to develop. This course is a prerequisite to the Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officer Training and so anyone within the Club who wishes to become the Children’s Welfare Officer must attend this workshop before moving on to the more intense training. All clubs must be working towards having a specified and suitably trained person or persons within the club to deal with these issues and it is a necessity in achieving the Athletics NI Clubmark Accreditation to have a fully trained Designated Officer. This is an insightful and enjoyable course which is highly recommended by Athletics NI to all Club personnel. Functional Movement Screening Workshop Course is free to coaches. Once coaches have attended the sessions, FMS equipment can be borrowed from the Athletics Track to test athletes within your own club. Functional Movement Screen and corresponding corrective exercises combine to create a cohesive core training program. It is designed to provide education, research and innovation to sports medicine, athletic training and fitness professionals. It can be used for athletic coaches working specifically with competitive athletes who will be applying their skills toward improving an athletes fitness goals. It is important that athletes reach a stage where they are performing high-level exercises; however some are inefficient in their basic fundamental movements. Due to this, they create poor movement patterns and consequently dysfunction is retrained. FMS will help identify any poor movement patterns within athletes. |
