Additional Information

Only athletes eligible under NICGC rules will be considered (see CGF rule 24(2)).  Athletes must hold a UK passport (this is a stipulation of the Games organising committee).

All athletes are expected to compete in the Northern Ireland and Ulster Championships in 2013. (Except for 10,000m, and Marathon). The final selection date in 2014 may be before the 2014 NI and Ulster Championships.

The NICGC will make the final selection from the list of Athletics NI nominees.   There are only a limited number of places available for Athletics at the Games and numbers will depend upon performances against other Commonwealth sports.  Achievement of the guideline standard does not guarantee selection.

Performances achieved between 1st Jan 2013 and the final selection date will be considered. (The final selection date is at present 7th June 2014, though this is subject to change at the discretion of the NICGC). Note – Marathon performances must be achieved by 6th May 2014.

Current form must be demonstrated and will be an important selection criterion.

Performances must be achieved during competition organised or authorised by IAAF, its area associations/member federations or ANI and must be in conformity with IAAF rules.

Indoor performances are acceptable subject to the level of competition and officiating. (See note above referring to current form and competition status).

Wind assisted performances will not be accepted. Hand timed performances will not be accepted except in marathon.  10,000m and 5,000m performances must be achieved on the track, no road times will be permitted.

Performances achieved in mixed events (between male and female participants) will not be accepted unless in conformity with IAAF rule 147.
